I'm very pleased so far with this purchase. It was a plug and play setup and I had it up and running in about 10 mins. Future Proof Stay at the top of your game by keeping your performance maxed. Laptops require a Thunderbolt 3 port with external graphics (eGFX) support.

It did seem large at first but upon consideration, I understand that room provides future upgradability. The Razer Core X external graphic enclosure is incredibly versatile and compatible with Thunderbolt 3 systems running Windows 10 RS5 or later and Macs running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or later. Performance is good.many times the graphics abilities built into my Mini. This was only apparent to me because I'm using it with a silent Mac Mini.

The eGPU enclosure has a built-in power supply so only a standard 3-prong power cable connects the unit to power (no external large power brick.) The unit is near-silent at idle but there is a little fan hum if you listen closely.
THUNDERBOLT 3 EXTERNAL GPU ENCLOSURE UPGRADE
The AKiTiO enclosure is extremely well built and provides both the power and cooling requirements for a more powerful graphics card upgrade at a later date if needed. The card must be inserted in the eGPU enclosure which is a simple plugin that requires no tools. While both units are shipped together they are in their own individual packaging.

I bought it here because everything I have bought from OWC over the years has been 100% compatible with any Mac I have used it for. The good part is I am getting 60fps in World of Warcraft. My unit is connected to a Mac mini which I do power off and I didn't want the eGPU on 24/7. The power switch is a tad confusing, in that obviously it needs to be on for the unit to work, but you also have to turn it off when you turn off the connected computer, or the fans in the eGPU run constantly. With one set, the fans on my GPU would never turn on, with the other, the fans worked fine. SINGAPORE Cooler Master today launches the MasterCase EG200 external GPU enclosure. One set worked and the other did not, no clue why. The only thing that caused me pause was the additional power cables there are 2 sets of cables: two 2 prong and two 4 prong, for a 6 prong plug on the GPU.

Fortunately it is really easy to install a GPU in this device. The instructions are almost completely useless.

The included TB3 cable is pretty short so this also limits where you put the unit. I was going to put it on my desk but ended up putting it on the floor under my desk which works fine. Not really a problem, but it's huge: maybe 12 inches long, 10 inches high and about 6 inched wide. Ultra fast 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 interface. External Graphics for high-performance Gaming, Supports Radeon RX 570, RX 560, RX 550 and Nvidia® Geforce® GTX 10 series. GPUs up to and including the GTX 1080 Ti or RX Vega 64 are supported.Verified Buyer Reviewer: BetterFinch-29371 The fan speeds are automatically handled by in-chassis temperature sensors, there’s an option to tune the colors and LEDs of the in-chassis hardware (assuming you have an Asus GPU with compatible LED lighting), and Asus is claiming the enclosure is optimized for silent operation. There’s also a single USB-C charge port on the chassis, with enough provided power (15W) to charge mobile devices, though probably not enough to charge or power anything larger. There’s an included (external) 330W PSU for the GPU, enough space for a 2.5-slot PCI Express GPU (this should support any aftermarket cards, either today or in the foreseeable future), and a pair of 120mm fans (shown below) to keep the GPU cool.

The new XG Station Pro packs into a svelte 4.3-by-14.8-inch form factor. Asus is the latest company to launch a new external GPU enclosure, this one built in partnership with the Taiwanese case manufacturer, In Win. The basic idea is simple: Slap an external GPU into a chassis, hook it to a laptop (or even a small desktop, with proper Thunderbolt 3 support), and you’ve got a high-end game station that weighs 2-3 pounds when detached, but plays like a 6-10-pound desktop replacement when hooked up. Ever since AMD teamed up with Razer and Intel to create the XConnect concept, we’ve seen more companies tiptoeing into the external graphics market.
